Former President John Mahama said that the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) analysis ahead of Election 2020 suggests the NDC will win in the swing regions.
This, according to him, is as a result of bad policies introduced by the NPP government since assuming office in 2017.
The NDC Flagbearer indicated that aside Eastern and Ashanti Regions that the NPP is likely to win; the NDC will win the 2020 Elections in the other 14 regions including their Northern and Volta Regions which are regarded as their strongholds.
"Comparing 2016 to now, our analysis shows the swing is in our favour. There are a lot of policies the NPP has gotten it very wrong. Their handling of galamsey was disastrous and that can cost them especially in the gold mining areas," he said.
In an interview with Adom TV, Former President Mahama said areas the NPP regards as its strongholds are positively shifting towards the NDC.
He indicated that his interaction with chiefs and opinion leaders, many are unhappy with President Akufo-Addo led administration.
The use of military personnel to halt galamsey; Mr Mahama is of the view will not yield any fruitful result rather alternative incentives, better supervision of the sector will help deal with the menace.
Mr Mahama said President Akufo-Addo should have resigned by now after putting his presidency on the line to tackle the galamsey menace.
'President Akufo-Addo stuck his presidency on dealing with galamsey. He should resign by now because he has failed miserably when it comes to this issue. The rivers are dirtier than they were in 2016 and there is more devastation in forests,' Mr Mahama indicated.
He further alleged that mining concessions of ordinary Ghanaians were taken from them and given to NPP fanatics.
Mr Mahama is confident that all these happenings will work against the NPP government in the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary polls.
