Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has revealed in a Corruption Risk Assessment report that there were breaches in the Public Procurement Act and Public Financial Management Act in how transaction advisors were procured when government was transacting the Agyapa deal.
According to Mr Amidu, the process raised reasonable suspicion of bid-rigging and corruption adding that the procurement of service providers for the transaction also gave rise to possible cronyism, nepotism and could result in illicit financial activities and money laundering.
The President has since ordered the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to refer the deal back to Parliament for a review.
Whilst the Majority in Parliament are rejecting the findings of the Special Prosecutor claiming that he did a sloppy job, the NDC MPs feel vindicated.
Today on PM Express, JoyNews’ Evans Mensah hosted representatives from both sides of Parliament to discuss the issue.
Chairman of Parliament’s Finance Committee, Dr Mark Assibey Yeboah, and a Member on the same Committee, Isaac Adongo dissected the Agyapa deal verdict that the Special Prosecutor has published.
The programme was livestreamed on all of JoyNews’ online portal.
