MP-elect for Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo has fought off claims that she holds dual citizenship despite contesting and winning the parliamentary seat for the constituency.
Adelaide Yaa Agyeiwaa Ntim has revealed that she renounced her American citizenship months to the elections.
"I heard that some of the NDC members are trending the copy of my Citizenship passport that I haven't renounced my citizenship but that is untrue. I have renounced it and I want all my supporters and loved ones to know that I have renounced my citizenship," she said.
This comes after details of her American passport popped up on social media, alleging that she holds dual citizenship.
It is also known that Ghana's Constitution frowns on an elected MP holding other passports aside that of Ghana.
However, speaking to JoyNews' Nana Yaw Gyimah, the MP-elect with an affirmation of renunciation document, proved that her American citizenship was renounced in August 2020.
She further issued a warning to persons spreading the news to desist from the act as she is ready to face off allegations of holding dual citizenship in court.
"Those people who are behind those false allegations, I'm warning them that they shouldn't take me for granted because the next time that I see the same thing, I'm going to sue those people," she sated.
