Zoomlion Ghana Limited in partnership with the Ghana Education Service has commenced a disinfection exercise in the Volta and Oti Regions ahead of the reopening of schools.
The exercise would see the disinfection of over 2,650 basic, 130 Senior High, and 14 tertiary institutions in both regions within the next 10 days.Â
The Volta Regional General Manager of the company, Solomon Denyo, explained that the exercise was to ensure a safe environment for students to prevent the spread of the coronavirus when schools finally resume after a long break caused by the pandemic.
The first day of the exercise saw the disinfection of the campuses of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Holy Trinity College of Education, Evangelical Presbyterian University College and the Ghana Communication Technology College.
Other schools disinfected included the Peki Senior High School and the Peki College of Education.
The Head of Estate at the Public Health Directorate of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Prosper Sosu lauded the initiative, adding that UHAS would not relent on efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus on its campuses.Â
The Registrar of the Ghana Communication Technology College, Bertha Wallah, assured students of their safety on campus and implored them to continue to abide by the safety protocols to ensure they do not contract the coronavirus before returning to school.
