Prosecutors in Egypt are now investigating two TikTok influencers for human trafficking after prison sentences against them on charges of debauchery were dropped.
The public prosecutor has ordered the continued detention of Haneen Hossam and Mawada al-Adham while the investigation continues.
The prosecutor says they exploited teenage girls by encouraging them to post similar videos to theirs on social media.
The detention of the two young Egyptian women - who have won big followings on TikTok and other apps - has caused an outcry both inside and outside Egypt - with supporters saying their social media activity is no different from that of millions of people around the world.
