The Brong Ahafo Presbytery Clerk of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has observed that it is right for people to call for a law to regulate activities of churches.

However, Rev Kwesi Yeboah, added that that alone cannot fix the mess and mix-up.

According to him, “what will solve our problem is for you and I who are Christians, who have authority over all things to begin to behave like Christians, to begin to take our rightful position in the society and write everything positively. That is the best”.

Rev Yeboah stressed government could promulgate all the regulations for churches but the church will continue from the current bad situation to the worst if Christians and their leaders themselves do not amend their ways.  

He made the observation in a sermon themed “Let all creation know that our Jesus’ authority is over everything” at Techiman, the Bono East regional capital during the elevation ceremony of Techiman South district of the church.

He said the power of Jesus has no bounds, set standards, and revolutionize every activity in this world but Christians have failed to positively use that power and authority well enough to affect society.

“The church of today has failed to let the whole world know that Jesus’ authority and power surpass everything including covid- 19,” Rev Yeboah stated.

He, therefore, urged pastors to focus on preaching the word of God than casting out demons, adding some ministers were scared their members will leave their churches so they were always prophesying and casting out demons whilst neglecting the true word.

The Brong Ahafo Presbytery Clerk of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana further said “a lot of people have been led astray because of this ignorance and gullibility”.

Performing the elevation rituals, Chairperson of the Brong Ahafo Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Dr William Kwabena Ofosu Addo, said the elevation of new districts of the church across the Brong Ahafo Presbytery was in preparation for further division into Bono, Bono East, and the Ahafo regions.

He explained the lifting of the Holy Bible at sacred ceremonies like elevations as revering the word of God, and that the Presbyterian Church of Ghana is solely dependent on the word but not on individuals.

Rev Dr Ofosu Addo announced the new elevated Techiman South District becomes 29th within the Brong Ahafo Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
