The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has encouraged residents of Mamprugu-Moagduri District of the North East Region to take the Covid-19 vaccines.
It said the vaccines would protect the people from the virus and it was important for the residents to receive the shots.
During public education in major communities such as Yizesi, Yizebisi, Tantala, Tuvuu, Wuntubri, Kubori, Kubugu, Kikayiri and Yagaba, among others, the District Director of the Commission, Mr Thomas Issahaku Imoro, urged the residents to disregard the misconceptions that the Covid-19 vaccine was unsafe.
He said the vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the government was safe and urged them to get vaccinated when the team visited their respective communities.
The District Director said while they wait for their turn, it was important to observe the recommended safety protocols such as social distancing, washing and sanitizing of hands as well as wearing of nose masks.
This, he said, would complement the government efforts to effectively fight the spread of the virus and put life back to normal.
