The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Thomas Oppong Peprah, has paid a working visit to the 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho.
The nationwide visit which ended in the Volta Region was to enable him to know about the administrative and logistical constraints and other issues bothering the various units.
Major General Oppong Peprah visited the Operation Motherland KFT Headquarters after an elaborate briefing by the Commanding Officer of the Regiment Lt Col Edward Sarpong Appiah on issues and achievements of the Regiment.
The COAS also visited the Artillery Training School at Akoefe and inspected uncompleted projects such as the bungalows for officers as well as classroom blocks.
He also inspected the ongoing projects at the Volta Barracks in the company of the General Officer Commanding, Southern Command, Brigadier General M. A. Amoah.
Major General Oppong Peprah assured the unit at a staff durbar after the inspection of the renovation and construction of some projects of the barracks and the training school.
He also assured them of making sure that the unit's fire tender is repaired and also provide two vehicles for the Artillery Training School.
The Chief of Army Staff also commended the unit for maintaining peace and security in its operational zones and noted that his command will continue to support the unit in its endeavours.
He urged the officers to continue working hard, stay disciplined and professional as they go about their duties.
The Commanding Officer, Lt Col Edward Sarpong Appiah was grateful for the visit and assured the general to do more to uplift the image of the Ghana Armed Forces.
