The police has confirmed that the male victim who was shot in a robbery incident at Amanful, a suburb of Takoradi in the Western Region has died.
The deceased who has been identified as Charles Kwakye, 61, was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the Takoradi Government Hospital following the attack.
Narrating the incident, the police in a statement said the deceased and his wife, Monica Nda are residents in Switzerland and had arrived in Ghana some two weeks ago to monitor their building project at Mpintsin.

But the duo was accosted and attacked by six armed men on motorbikes when they were in their Hyundai Sonata with registration number GE 4022-16 at Amanful where they had gone to purchase some building materials on Monday.
According to the police, there was a struggle between the 61-year-old victim and one of the robbers when he tried to snatch the travelling bag containing cash the sum of 6,000 CFA, €50, SFr80 and ¢12,700.
The robber, therefore, shot the victim at the right chest and bolted with the bag and its contents.

Wife of the decease, Monica Nda, 45 is reported to have sustained cuts on the face and is responding to treatment.
The police has assured all and sundry to efforts are being made to get the culprits arrested for interrogation.

ROBBERY AND MURDER
On 12/04/21 about 1445 hrs, Police received information that there was a shooting incident at Amanful-Takoradi and that someone had been shot and had been rushed to Takoradi Hospital.
Police rushed to Takoradi Govt Hospital and found a male adult aged about 61yrs identified as Charles Kwakyie lying dead at the hospital morgue with a gunshot wound at the right chest.
Monica Nda aged about 45 years, wife of the victim who also sustained a cut on the face was met at the casualty ward responding to treatment.
Investigation disclosed that victim Charles Kwakye is resident in Switzerland with his wife Monica Nda. They came to Ghana about two weeks ago to monitor their building project at Mpintsin, Takoradi. On 12/04/21 about 1300hrs, they went to Takoradi Amanful to buy some building materials.
Whilst in their Hyundai sonata private car with registration number GE 4022- 16 parked at Amanful near Anaji trotro station, they were accosted and attacked by six armed men on 2 motorbikes. One of them got hold of their travelling bag containing cash the sum of 6,000 CFA, €50 Euro, 80 Switz Franc and ¢12,700. There was a struggle between the victim and the robber.
The robber shot the victim in the right chest and bolted with the bag and its contents. The victim was rushed to Takoradi Govt Hospital but died shortly on arrival.
Efforts are being made to get the culprits arrested for interrogation.
