Today in history! April 27, 1972 49 years ago Kwame Nkrumah died after living quietly for six years in exile in Guinea. He is Ghana’s first President and Prime Minister and a name never to be forgotten amongst freedom fighters.
More often than not people think that history is a privilege of the old because, they may have lived through it but many of us today want to know where we come from, in order to know where we will go.
That is why it’s important to take a look at Ghana’s past under Kwame Nkrumah, the present under the fourth republic and the future which is in the hands of the youth. As the world remembers Kwame Nkrumah’s passing its citizens remember the beginning of Ghana
Prompting the discussion; Ghana yesterday, Ghana today, Ghana tomorrow.
Speaking on JoyNews interactive with Mapitso Sebidi, Ernesto Yeboah of the Economic Fighters League when asked if Ghana is living up to Nkrumah’s legacy , said “A blunt no.’’ He also thinks Ghana’s future looks bleak so long as Ghanaians are not ready to correct the fault in their thinking.
On the same show Historian Kweku Darko Ankrah stated that Ghana has not learnt much from Nkrumah’s and still has a long way to go especially in the economic fight.
