President of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors, Dr John Amaglo has ascribed the lack of electricity and water supply as reasons behind the inability to house citizens at the Saglemi housing project.
This comes after a video purportedly shot and with accompanying commentary by a person identifying himself as Hassan Ayariga went viral.
In the said video, the commentator was heard canvassing for mass occupation without recourse to due procedure.
Housing Minister, Asenso Boakye has subsequently directed the Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) to validate a report by the Ghana Institution of Surveyors with regards to the Saglemi Housing Project and advice accordingly.
Reacting to that, Dr Amaglo told JoyNews that the validation of "our report does not mean our report is not appropriate or is tainted with any political misconception."
According to him, the provision of basic utilities such as water and electricity will make the project inhabitable.
"If electricity and water is extended to the area those that have been completed can be taken over and people can start using," he told Emefa Apawu.
Furthermore, the President of the Institution urged the Akufo-Addo led government to fast-track the completion of the housing project.
In his view, the move will help augment the "deficit of over 2 million houses and 5 thousand house unit."
"Government should find the funds to be able to complete these viable project. These project must be completed for citizens to use," he emphasised.
