Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu has cautioned Deputy Ministers-designate to desist from partaking in official duties ahead of their approval by the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the Tamale South MP noted that information reaching him reveals that some nominees have already commenced work.

In order to expose these individuals, he says he has requested video recordings of the nominees who he says are leaping ahead of Parliamentary approval.

According to him, persons who would be found culpable risk being sanctioned.

"In respect of Deputy minister nominees, may I caution that the ruling in JH Mensah versus the Attorney General 1997/1998 is still assent. There are many of them who are in a hurry to assume office even when parliament has not approved their nomination.

"May I, Mr Speaker, serve a warning that in accordance with the ruling in JH Mensah versus Attorney General, they will be in a hurry at their own peril because they must respect the provisions which guarantee a shared responsibilities between the President as the head of executive and parliament in getting them approved. Many of them are already reporting to offices, some already taking actions" he added.

He made this known during his welcome address after Parliament resumed its business on Tuesday, May 25, after its recess.

The Appointments Committee of Parliament will on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 vet Akufo-Addo's nominees for the positions of a Minister of State and 39 Deputy Ministers.

The nominees are expected to answer questions regarding the stewardship of their former institutions and demonstrate their readiness to serve the nation.

Among others, Abena Osei-Asare, Micheal Okyere Baafi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Messers Osei Bonsu Amoah, Diana Asonaba Dapaah, and Thomas Mbomba are some of the Deputy Ministerial nominees appointed by the President.
