Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) has urged employers to continue with the adherence to Covid-19 protocols.
This comes in the wake of a looming third wave of Covid-19 currently recorded in the country.
In a release signed by the Chief Executive of Ghana Employers’ Association, Alex Frimpong implied that “urgent preventive measures need to be put in place to ensure that this new variant is not transmitted to the large unvaccinated Ghanaian population.”
“Employers have a key role to play in containing the spread of the virus at the workplace, and failure to pay heed to the current wave may yield consequences that will threaten the business and economic recovery efforts being made,” part of the release read.
GEA further urged the government to accelerate the implementation GHc 100 billion Covid-19 alleviations and revitalization of the Enterprises Support programme which was designed to keep the economy as well as businesses on the recovery path.
The Association also outlined certain protocols and guidelines to be followed at the workplaces to avoid the spread of the virus namely; Change of workplace culture i.e stop handshaking, limit sharing of food, direct workers to work from home if they have “flu-like” symptoms among others.
It also encouraged workers to “vaccinate the workforce of their organizations, when vaccines are made available.”
