At least nine persons have been confirmed dead in a head-on collision involving a Sprinter bus and a DAF truck at Apedwa in the Eastern region.
Six females, including a six months old baby and three males died on the spot.
Several others sustained severe injuries in the accident that occurred on Saturday, August 21, evening.
The bus with registration number, GT 7394-14 crashed into the truck with two different registration numbers, 2459 T1 03 and 2458 T1 03 at the head and rear respectively.
The Benz sprinter, heading towards the Accra direction from Nkawkaw reportedly overtook a vehicle around Pig Farm junction at Apedwa and crashed into the DAF truck traveling from Accra.
The driver of the truck has been identified as Yacouba Sanogo, 34.
The deceased have since been taken to the Suhum Government Hospital morgue for preservation, autopsy and identification.
According to the Eastern Regional Police PRO DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the injured victims have been admitted at the Kibi Government Hospital for treatment.
