A 12-year-old student from Damongo Girls Model School in the Savannah Region has been crowned 'Child Sanitation Diplomat 2021.'
This was after Naziru Mawadatu won the second edition of the School's Sanitation Solutions Challenge.
She was outdoor by Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the Sanitation Minister.
The organisers of the challenge are World Vision Ghana, Zoomlion Foundation, Kings Hall Media, and GAMA.
The challenge's grand finale featured live on the popular GTV 'What Do You Know' quiz programme on September 19.

The other winners are namely Annabel Ankonu (2nd) from Suhum MA Experimental School, Gladstone Nachinab (3rd) from Etoile Royale Educational Centre, and Emmanuella Vanderpuye (4th) from John Wesley Methodist School.

While presenting awards to the winners, Madam Dapaah mentioned that it was very rewarding to see these children display their knowledge to improve environmental sanitation in the country.
She added that children would play a key role if we are to win the war on sanitation, adding that the Ministry would support the course of the newly crowned Child Sanitation Diplomat in her various sensitisation campaigns.

The first four winners received a plaque each and cash prizes of ¢3000, ¢2500, ¢2000, ¢1500 respectively. In addition, each participant also received a laptop computer, tablet phone, Zoomlion waste bins, sanitisers and souvenirs.
In addition to the aforementioned, Zoomlion Foundation will sponsor a one-year sanitation project in the four schools. The projects are expected to begin on October 1, 2021.

The partners of the sanitation solutions challenge (World Vision Ghana, Zoomlion Foundation, Kings Hall Media, and GAMA) are poised to continue this collaboration to improve sanitation in schools and communities.
The contest winner, Ms Naziru, expressed her delight after winning the contest, thanking her teachers who helped her prepare for the challenge.
