The national executive committee of the opposition New Patriotic Party has fixed the 8th of August as the date for its national delegates conference to decide on proposed amendments to its constitution.
Key among the amendments to be considered is the proposal for the party to establish a new Electoral College comprising five members from each of the 21 thousand polling stations in the country.
The party circulated the draft amendments to its Members of Parliament this week.
MP for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul backs the proposal to expand the Electoral College.
He said this will help prevent vote-buying and enhance internal party democracy.
Also commenting on the NPP’s proposed constitutional amendments, the MP for Bekwai, Joe Osei Owusu said delegates to next month’s party congress should consider the best ways of establishing a credible electoral process for the main opposition party.
