There is never a dull moment when one engages the services of a comedian as the Master of Ceremony (MC) at their events, comedian Lekzy DeComic has said.
He believes comedians behold extra values and qualities that give them an advantage over professional MCs.
Lekzy DeComic believes that professional MCs are sometimes not flexible and do not have any sense of humour to crack audiences up in situations where there are hitches during the event, hence, making the whole event boring.
"Comedians can also be professional MCs. [For] people who are not comedians but call themselves MCs, comedians have many advantages over them. For example, if you check all the big award shows, all over the world, mostly, they’re being hosted by comedians."
"If you’re a comedian, you have a lot of advantages over the normal MC who will come and just speak English, just all nice but [for a] comedian, when there are issues on the night, maybe things are not going through according to plan, at least the comedian has a way of holding the event down till maybe the issue is rectified," he told host of Showbiz Review on Hitz FM, Tuesday.
The comedian clarified that he is not attempting to look down on the work of professional MCs, yet, comedians always come to the table as MCs with special packages that thrill the audiences throughout.
"Just imagine you go to an event [and] you were not expecting that a comedian will be the MC; you paid to go and watch Shatta Wale or Sarkodie, and the next minute they are giving you a comedy, in addition, you’ve got more than what you even paid for.
"I’m selling a product that from where I’m coming from, we have more to what we do than just coming there to talk and make people just go with the flow," he opined.
While encouraging Ghanaians to begin hiring comedians as Masters of Ceremony, he also admitted that not all shows require a comedian.
