Residents of Kpando-Torkor, a farming community in the Kpando Municipality of the Volta Region, have threatened to pour onto the streets over poor roads.
They say the four-kilometre road that links the community to the Municipal capital, Kpando, has become a death trap after being neglected for many years by the government.
Residents say several appeals to the local assembly and other key stakeholders to help construct the stretch have yielded no results.
"We have pleaded with the authorities to do something about the road to no avail, and this time around we will go on the streets and demonstrate if nothing is done immediately," residents said.
Meanwhile, the new MCE, Joe Badasu, says his office is liaising with the Volta Regional Roads and Highways Authority to address the residents' concerns.
He wants aggrieved residents to shelve planned protests.
He said the government is committed to ensuring that issues relating to deplorable roads in the Municipality are resolved as soon as possible.
"Government is doing its best to fix the roads, and my office is liaising with the Highways to get it done," Mr Badasu said.
Joy News contacted the Acting Regional Director of the Roads and Highways Authority, Harold Atobra Agyeapong, who promised that a temporal measure will be considered in two weeks whilst he works to bring the contractor to the site.
