Choreographer Incredible Zigi says there is a constant challenge as a dancer to change public perception about his career.
According to him, prejudice against choreographers remains a challenge in the careers of young artistic people.
Speaking to Joy Entertainment’s Daybreak Hitz host Andy Dosty, the dance instructor lamented how many people looked down on him because of what he does for a living.
“If you say you’re a dancer, people think you’re aimless and have nothing to do with your life,” he said.
He added that it is demeaning to receive such derogatory remarks constantly.
The choreographer, born Michael Amofa, says he has defied all odds to emerge as a global social media sensation who inspires the youth through his incredible dance moves.
He has gained worldwide recognition on Instagram and has participated in several dance challenges.
“The way they judge and criticise us, it kills our spirit,” he said.
However, Incredible Zigi believes the situation will get better when one perseveres and change the negative perception.
“I think the future is bright; society is beginning to accept us; we are trying to make dance something huge here, so I feel like the change will come”.
According to him, “dance saved his life", and he aims to inspire and motivate more youth positively.
This, he does, through his Afrozig Movement, where he takes interested persons through dance lessons.
