The Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies has awarded Bishop Dr Charles C. Hackman with the 2021 Timothy Bowles African Human Rights Leadership Award in recognition of his great work in the disability community of Ghana.
The ceremony took place during the Institute's annual fundraising dinner and awards gala banquet at Hilton Alexandria Mark Center in Virginia of the USA.
For over a decade, the Founder and Executive Director of the Here for Perfection organization (H4P), Bishop Dr Charles C. Hackman, has been advocating for the human rights of Persons with Disability (PWDs) in Ghana.
The Bishop’s passion to support persons with disability is unmatched as many disability organizations throughout Ghana have benefited greatly from his advocacy and benevolence.
He has selflessly dedicated his life to support the disability community in Ghana comprising persons with disability, families of persons with disability, special education schools and institutions and other stakeholder groups.

Through the H4P Organization is based in Ghana, Dr Hackman has embarked on many projects under the Helping Hand Community Projects to support persons with disabilities.
He has provided economic empowerment, educational needs, logistics, medical care and specialised attention for many persons with disabilities and their families. His media advocacy, through the Helping Hand TV Show, has for almost a decade continued to share the success stories of PWDs as well as deal with erroneous misconceptions and ideologies about disability.
The TV show also provides the platform for stakeholders of the disability community to make their voices heard, share their challenges and provide the general populace with relevant education about disability matters.
According to the Bishop, his dream is to see a world where the barriers, limitations and setbacks of the vulnerable in society especially PWDs are eradicated; a world where persons with disability have a level playground to function at their full potential and contribute significantly towards national development.
Dr Hackman's great contribution to the lives of persons with disability in the country earned him the humanitarian category award at the Ghana Leadership Awards in October, 2020.
Also in July this year, at the Hyatt Regency Creek Heights in Dubai, he received Africa’s Most Respected CEO’s Award in the Industrial Chemical Manufacturing Category for his great business leadership and success as well as for using the resources generated from his business, DV Unlimited Co. Ltd., to fund his disability advocacy.
The Timothy Bowles African Human Rights Award is bestowed upon only the most distinguished individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in their career and exemplary leadership within their communities in promoting global human rights.
