The chiefs and people of Breman Jamara in the Asikuma Odobeng-Brakwa District of the Central Region have hailed the Multimedia Group for blazing the trail in impactful journalism.
This follows the commencement of the construction of a 3-unit classroom block for the community under the Classroom Project.
When completed, the new school will provide a safer place for school-going children in the community to receive quality basic education.
A modern class room facility is one of the many developmental needs of the community.
The Gyaasehene of the area, Nana Kwesi Ennin III, while urging the Multimedia Group to keep up the good work, also appealed for more public support to complete project on schedule.
“Let me take this opportunity to thank Multimedia. It’s not about previous journalism that we all know. This one is journalism about the challenges people are facing in their communities and it is a plus for Multimedia. My prayer is that when this project is done, you would go to other communities as well.
Unlike before, there is a lull on site due to the dwindling community participation.
The traditional authorities are unhappy about the development and have called for additional support.
“We would continue to ask to get the needed support to complete the project on time. There is a prevailing perception among Ghanaians that government should provide everything.”
“For the meantime, we’ve been engaging them [the residents], psyche them up that times have changed and that the government cannot work on everything. While we are talking to them, we would also need people to donate more,” they said.
Despite the challenge, some of the community members have expressed their commitment to seeing the project through completion.
“It’s all about leadership. It is possible that we’d be able to complete within time, but have to meet our people and talk to them. We have agreed to support together to ensure the project’s completion.

“We know that other children from other communities would be glad to attend the school when it is completed,” they pledged.
The Classroom Project
The Multimedia Group’s Classroom Project is tailored towards promoting philanthropy for development at the community level without looking up to the central government or donor support.
It is under a bigger continental project called ‘Giving for Change’ (GfC). It is being implemented in Ghana by the STAR Ghana Foundation in partnership with the West Africa Civil Society Institute with funding from the Dutch Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The Classroom Project is supported by the Israeli Embassy, Forestry Commission, The Planned City Extension Project, DBS Roofing Sheets and cherished audiences of the Multimedia Group Limited.
