Musician as well as son of legendary hjighlife artiste Ebo Taylor, Roy X Taylor says that he is not arrogant.
This issue came up as a result of an interview he granted on ATV somewhere in 2020, which he squashed a claim made by Bisa Kdei that he saved Highlife music from dying.
In the said interview, the musician opined that Bisa Kdei never saved highlife music from dying since his songs do not qualify for that genre.
"It is not true that Bisa Kdei is the one who saved the highlife genre in Ghana. His songs do not qualify for the genre. They are more like a polished version of hiplife and francophone. The fast tempo songs are not Highlife", he said.
Most people criticised and tagged Roy X Taylor as pompous and an attention-seeker after his utterances in the interview.
On the heels of this, Andy Dosty asked him on Daybreak Hitz, about how he took the criticisms going forward.
Speaking on the matter, the musician said he likes it when people try to criticize him since it goes a long way to shape his thoughts.
"…I like it when people try to put things in a right place or try to criticize me because it helps me to learn a lot and that was my first time a lot of people stressed on what I said and shared their opinions as well I'm glad it makes me learn a lot," he said.
He went ahead to state emphatically that he is not arrogant, as people think he is but he only took an opportunity to air his views under Bisa's post as he felt other Highlife Artistes had also contributed their quota in preventing highlife from dying.
…."I'm not arrogant. I only shared an opinion. I didn't speak for all music lovers it was an opinion and a pleasure given to me to speak about the fact that he saved highlife or he patronized it. I like the fact that he patronized highlife but entirely he did not save it because most of the musicians were also doing the same thing," he stressed.
