President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has charged leaders of the African Bar Association (AfBA Ghana Forum) to strive to ensure activities of the continental group bring greater exposure to Ghanaians.
Yaw Acheampong Boafo believes this will enable the Ghanaian lawyers to cross border practice experience.
He noted that it is critical as Ghana's hosting of the AfCFTA secretariat begins to see lawyers from all over Africa representing clients doing business under the free continental trade area.
Mr Yaw Boafo disclosed that the GBA has embarked on a project to ensure lawyers in the country are poised to take full advantage of the AfCTA.
Chairman of the AfBA Ghana Forum, Prof. Ernest Kofi Abotsi assured a closer partnership with the GBA to give Ghana better visibility in activities of the continental lawyer's group and promote cross-country legal practice and experience.
The interaction was on the occasion of a courtesy call on the GBA on Wednesday during which executives of the AfBA were introduced to the GBA.
The two bodies took the opportunity to discuss collaborative prospects and stressed the need to leverage opportunities for Ghanaian lawyers at the continental level.
Mr Yaw Boafo expressed the desire of the GBA to cooperate with the AfBA in its activities.
The AfBA Ghana Forum was appreciative of the warm reception and pledged to work with the GBA to advance the interest of Ghanaian lawyers on the African continent.
Prof. Kofi Abotsi conveyed greetings from the president of the African Bar Association, Hannibal Uwaifo Esq.
The AfBA is the continental body that comprises lawyers who have been called to the bars of the various jurisdictions in Africa
Other GBA executives in attendance were the National Treasurer, Nana Serwaa Acheampong, and National Secretary, Kwaku Gyau Baffour.
The AfBA Ghana Forum executives included Vice Chairman, David Aseidu; Publicity Secretary, Samson Lardy Anyenini, and Assistant Secretary, Phoebe Ayitey.
