The parliamentary caucus of the opposition New Patriotic Party has kicked against the proposal to limit the number of contestants for the party’s flagbearer position to 2.The move is intended to prevent the situation where 18 men contested the flagbearership last year.A development some analysts blame for the party’s defeat in the 2008 presidential election. Delegates to the NPP conference are expected to adopt the new proposal and other amendments at a conference in August. But minority leader and MP for Suame Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu says he and his colleagues in parliament will kick against the proposed amendments. He says limiting the number of aspirants for the flagbearership to two will further deepen the cracks in the party.A former presidential aspirant and political analyst, Kwesi Jonah, share similar views.
