Two persons have been killed by gunmen at Mamadukura, a community in the Bole District of the Savannah Region.
The incident that happened on Saturday led to the death of a 60-year-old farmer, Yaw, and Dibuone Akua, a 40-year-old woman.
The suspected gunmen who invaded the community on motorbikes are reported to have shot sporadically at the house of the deceased farmer as some residents ran to seek refuge in the nearby bush.
They made away with an undisclosed amount of money and beat one child of the deceased, a source revealed.
“A son of the deceased has lost more than ¢30,000 to the invaders. As for Mr Yaw [the deceased], we can’t tell how much was taken from him.
“But we believe a huge amount of money was equally seized from him,” an eyewitness told Bole-based Yagbon Radio.
The shooting incident has thrown the entire community into shock, following the tension in the community.
Meanwhile, the Bole District Police says it has commenced investigations into circumstances that led to the shootout and death of the two persons.
Efforts are being made to arrest the suspects behind the act.
