Singer-songwriter and producer Paapa Versa has just released the afro-soul single “Call you mine” ahead of the full genre-blending album prepped for release later this year.
“I wrote ‘Call you mine’ from a place of crisis, musing on the many twists and turns my life has taken. What came out of that crisis was clarity on the most foundational part of my adult life: the centering relationship my wife and I are cultivating”, he says.
Empathy and vulnerability are consistent traits of Paapa Versa’s work. With ‘Call you mine’ the musician expands his catalog with yet another introspective and soulful song. This time, over a distinctly afrobeats groove.
“I hope this song helps you acknowledge the insecurities of life, while celebrating those who hold you down and call you their own in spite of those insecurities” he adds.
‘Call you mine’ is out now, and is available on all major streaming platforms.
