Young lady golfers from the Captain One Golf Society (C1GS) based in Kumasi have received mentorship from Ghana’s reigning national golf champions.
Ghana’s number one lady golfer – Constance Awuni – was the first to visit the girls during one of their training sessions at the Royal Golf Club.
She used the opportunity to encourage and share some experience with them purposed to whip up their interest in the game.

Their next training session saw the number one ranked golfer both in West Africa and Ghana – Vincent Tsorgah - pass by.
He as well spoke some encouraging and motivating words to the girls.
The gesture was important because there are fewer young girls below 18 years that often show interest in playing the game.
Excited as they were, the young golfers say they have been in high spirit after these great sportsmen paid them these visits.
The girls who have been learning to play golf for almost a year now are from less privileged families but are living in a safe home – Safe-Child Advocacy Centre in Kumasi.
Safe-Child Advocacy Centre, is a non-governmental organization established under the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi that is concerned about the plight of the vulnerable in the society and children who work on the streets.

Numbering about twenty, the girls are being sponsored by the Captain One Golf Society to train to play the game of golf.
Founder of Captain One Golf Society, Pius Ayeh Appiah, has said the objective is to demystify the notion that golf is a game reserved for the rich and affluent in society.
He believes playing the game at a tender age will inculcate in these young girls’ soft life skills that will enable them sail through the demands of life.
Two professional golfers – Yaw Barima Okyere and Maxwell Owusu Bonsu – train the girls every week at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.
