The Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has cautioned all Ghanaians to desist from doing politics with the ongoing education transformation.
He explained that although the transformation is in the interest of the nation and does not consider beneficiaries' political affiliation, ethnic orientation, religion and other social standings, doing politics with it would not help the country.
Dr Adutwum gave the caution when the Board Chairman of Sogakope Senior High School, Mr Maxwell Amekpor, led the Board of the School to pay a courtesy call on him on Monday in Accra.
The visit was to invite the Minister to the 60th anniversary of the School which climaxed on 26th November 2022 at Sogakope, in the Volta Region.
The Education Minister said if Ghanaians should allow the ongoing education transformation to continue for a couple of years, there was no way the country would not develop since the right transformation measures were being put in place to leapfrog the nation's economy.
He cited for instance the push for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. Dr. Adutwum noted that when supported by all, STEM would soon turn the nation's education and ultimately the nation's economy to improve the standard of living of the ordinary Ghanaian.
Dr. Adutwum appealed to all Ghanaians to embrace STEM education as the magic wand to turn things around for the nation's economy.
The Education Minister pledged to ensure that all infrastructural projects in the school receive support to enhance effective teaching and learning.
The Board Chairman of the School, Mr. Maxwell Amekpor, lauded the Education Minister for the development he has brought into the nation's education sector.
He appealed to the government to consider improving the school's infrastructure to help accommodate the rising population of the school.
Other members of the delegation were; Newman Dzesedzoave, Headmaster, Cephas Sokpah, Assistant Headmaster, Mama Azivui III, Queen mother of Teffe traditional area and board member and Maxwell Lukutor, Old student's President.
