Having missed out on the FIFA World Cp in Russia in the last edition, the Black Stars earned a ticket for this year's global showpiece after beating Nigeria in the playoff to a spot.

A return to the global stage means one thing for Otto Addo and the Ghana Football Association - reinforcement. The Ghana FA is already on a hunt to find some of the high-profile players of Ghanaian descent who are willing to join the national squad as preparations for Qatar commences.

Ghana suffered one of its worst performances earlier this year after bowing out of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in the group stage without winning any game.

That performance saw the FA act quickly to revamp the technical team to ensure the country didn't miss out on back-to-back World Cups.

Following qualification to the World Cup, some of these foreign-born Ghanaians are ready to don the shirt of four-time Afican champions, with the nationality of five players already confirmed while Mohammed Salisu has also been confirmed to be available for selection. Inaki Williams and Tariq Lamptey are among five players to have switched nationalities.

Following these confirmations, some section of Ghanaians has pleaded with the technical team to not forget the group of individuals that participated and helped the team secure qualification for the World Cup. To some, it would be unfair to get rid of some of such players, hence it will be vital for Addo and his assistants to consider their options.

Over the years, some faces in the Black Stars have been the point of 'abuse' from Ghanaians any time the team fails to achieve a feat that looked possible. Adam Kwarasey, Richard Kingston, Mubarak Wakaso and more often Asamoah Gyan have been in this situation. A more recent one is that of Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Andy Yiadom. The Ayew brothers (Andre and Jordan) are no exception to this as well.

In July 2020, Gyan in a post on Twitter wrote: "We celebrate failure more than success. Me di333, I have my own spot where I can relax. My family is really proud of me. That is what is most important to me."

This brings a question of whether these kinds of things are still going to be seen even with the addition of these star-studded names to the team ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Inaki Williams in an interview recently mentioned he is ready to cope with the pressure that representing the national team will bring.

Some of these are easier said than done. Who thought Gyan was ever quit at some point due to abuse? Were the Ayew brothers not too strong to contain some of these comments back in 2013 when they decided to not play again?

It's high time we understood that our comments could make or unmake the mentality of some of these players. Therefore, let's know how to address some of the Black Stars issues, especially with the addition of dome new players and then we can get to see the best of our national team.
