The Awudome Senior High School in Tsito in the Ho West District of the Volta Region is unable to provide enough beds for the student population.
The majority of the students are compelled to sleep on their mattresses laid on the floor in the dormitories.
However, the 1974 group of the Old Students Union of AWUSCO has provided 30 pieces of metal beds after learning about the situation.
The Awudome Senior High School, established in 1963, has a student population of over 2,000.
The school, situated in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, does not have enough beds in the dormitories.
The majority of the boarding students lay their mattresses on the floor and sleep on them.
This has been one of the challenges for the school, coupled with a bed bugs invasion.
This development prompted the 1974 group of the Old Students Union of AWUSCO to present the 30 pieces of 3-in-1 metal beds to salvage the situation.
The President of the 1974 OSUA, David Seshie, said they identified the imperative need of the beds after a plea from the headmaster regarding the unfavourable conditions in the dorms.
The AWUSCO Headmaster, Courage Meteku, though appreciated the gesture, said there is more to be done to ensure every single student has a bed to lay on.
The 1993 OSUA also presented a modern set of brass band instruments and uniforms to the school careers.
Nonetheless, the school is bearing the brunt of the nationwide strike by teachers. Academic activities have been distorted as the final years prepare for their West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
