The General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Jantuah, has questioned the economic capabilities of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to her, the Vice President’s economic competence is only in books and theory.
Dr Bawumia ahead of the 2016 election was touted as the 'Economic Messiah' who would save the country’s economy by stabilising the depreciating currency and taking measures that would improve the financial situation of the citizens.
Six years on, the country is experiencing similar economic challenges, even though, the ‘Economic Messiah’ is the incumbent Vice President and the Head of the Economic Management Team.
It is on the back of this that Madam Jatuah is questioning the economic prowess of Dr Bawumia.
“It is under the economic management of the Vice President that the Cedi broke the eight and further broke the Inspector-General of Police's jail term on the orders of the Vice President,” she said on Accra FM on Tuesday.
Madam Jantuah further took a jab at the Akufo-Addo-led government for failing the populace.
In her view, “Managing an economy is not about projects and renaming of projects.”
“Ghana has lost its greatness under the NPP. Majority of Ghanaians are suffering and cannot afford three square meals a day,” she complained.
She, therefore, called on government to forgo its "arrogant" posture and ask relevant experts for help in order to resuscitate the economy.
