Scores of Gaagbini residents, a community in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region have been displaced after days of heavy rains.
In October last year, the community was submerged in floodwaters, prompting a JoyNews campaign dubbed #UpToUs to raise relief items for victims.
This year, the situation is not different. The floodwater has damaged the roads in the community.
JoyNews' North East Regional correspondent, Eliasu Tanko reported that the residents on Sunday were left stranded for some time before they managed to convey some of their properties to a nearby Church.
The residents also described how the rains had affected them in an interview.

“Last year we were affected by the flood waters. This morning at about 6 to 7am the place started to get flooded again. We are calling on the government to come to our aid,” a resident said.
Another also stated that "I woke up to prepare banku this morning and the flood water has carried away my banku and other things. We are hungry and without food and the rains have made it worse."
“Each time there is a downpour, our properties get damaged and we were promised that the bridge would be fixed but till date nothing has been done about it,” she said.
According to Eliasu Tanko, the flood victims are still looking for shelter.

He stated that the road which was damaged by the flood has been repaired to allow free flow of traffic.
Mr Tanko reported that the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) officials, and Municipal Chief Executive for the area have made an assessment of the community.
In the meantime, the officials have assured the residents that drainage systems would be built in the community to ensure that flood waters flow easily during a downpour.
