The residents of Wenchi in the Bono region have defied a Saturday morning heavy rain to clean the municipal capital.
Station boys, youth groups, religious bodies, and others in their numbers joined the second edition of the “Clean Wenchi 24” exercise organised by the Paramount Chief of the Wenchi Traditional Area, Osagyefo Ampem Anyye Amoampong Tabrako III.

The crowd, in the company of the paramount chief and other dignitaries, cleared weeds, cleaned, swept and distilled chocked drains along the streets of the Wenchi township while singing Apor songs and dancing.
Residents of the area continued pouring out to be part of the cleanup exercise, and not even the heavy downpour deterred their continuous outpour on the streets.
Addressing the people shortly after the exercise, Osagyefo Tabrako marvelled at the sanitary improvement of Wenchi.

He underscored the importance of cleaning the environment, saying, "If we continue to clean up our environment, we will be saving ourselves and the nation from spending more money on malaria and other sanitation-related ailments".
The paramount chief commended his people for showing up massively for a successful second edition of the “Clean Wenchi 24” campaign.
He urged resident of Wenchi to continue cleaning their various vicinities each day to ensure a clean and disease-free Wenchi.
He announced that the Wenchi Tradition Council will soon release waste bins to be placed at vantage areas across Wenchi.

"The waste bins belong to all of us because our relatives in the diaspora and keep-fit clubs provided them, so I plead with you to own them and use them for the intended purpose,” Osagyefo Tabrako hinted.
He said the Traditional Council, in collaboration with the Wenchi Municipal Assembly, the environmental sanitation office and the security services, will institute a task force to manage the waste bins to ensure they are not mishandled. Â

On the upcoming December polls, Osagyefo Tabrako called for a free, fair and peaceful general election on December 7, urging all election actors to perform their duties in good faith.
The Member of Parliament for the Wenchi constituency, Alhaji Seidu Haruna, the Parliamentary Candidate for New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kojo Frempong and the Parliamentary Candidate for the New Force, David Kusi and their party supporters, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Ambulance Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, students, keep fit clubs and others were part of the cleanup exercise.
The exercise was under the theme, "Tradition Meets Transformation: A Clean Wenchi for a Prosperous Future".
