The Ashanti Regional Security Council has warned that it will deal with any students who will initiate any attack on teachers or engage in violence after WASSCE exams.
The council says it has picked intelligence of some final year students conniving to launch attacks on some teachers and invigilators after completing their examinations.
In a statement signed by the regional minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, the council revealed some students sitting for the 2022 WASSCE also plan on causing mayhem and destruction to school property.
The statement however did note the reason underlying the purported hooliganism and misconduct by the students.
But, Mr. Osei-Mensah says persons found culpable of hooliganism would be made to face the rigour of the law and surcharged with damage costs.
“Students who decide to misbehave and engage in acts of misconduct or hooliganism will be dealt with in accordance with the Law. Students who are arrested for their misconduct and reckless behavior will not be spared but will be prosecuted and further surcharged with the cost of damage,” portions of the statement read.
The Regional Minister is therefore cautioning students against any decision to damage assets of any senior high school in the region, advising them to concentrate on completing their exams peacefully.
He also admonished parents and guardians to whip their wards in line to focus on their ongoing examination.
The ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) which started on August 1, 2022 is slated to end on 27th September, 2022.
Mr. Osei-Mensah however expressed his best wishes to the students as they complete their examinations.
