The Ghanaian High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa has advised Ghanaian residents in the country to be vigilant ahead of a series of protests by the South Africans against the presence of foreigners on their lands.
The Commission in a statement on Tuesday, September 6 noted that last month, some groups in South Africa threatened to attack and rusticate foreigners from their workplaces and the country beginning this month.
The Commission added that the planned attack is not a government or state policy and could degenerate into violence aimed at foreigners.

In order to ensure the safety of the lives of Ghanaians, “the mission would thus like to advise members of the Ghanaian community to be vigilant to any such incidents, restrict their movements to safe areas, avoid mass gatherings and refrain from engaging in activities that could result in conflict, brawls or deterioration in their safety.”
The Ghanaian residents have thus been urged to contact the Mission on the following telephone numbers; 012-342-5487 or 0768-764-838 in case of any emergency.
