The government has said "Galamsey” kingpin, Aisha Huang, entered the country after her deportation with forged documents.
According to government spokesperson on National Security, Palgrave Boakye Danquah, after her entry, security agencies tracked her to ascertain if she was the same person.
He added that the suspect would face the full rigors of the law.
“For us as a government, we are aware that she entered with illegal documents; forged documents which do not represent the names but because of how good our security services are, we had to follow her to be sure that she was the same person that was deported out of the country.”
“Over several weeks, we arrested her and got to know that she entered into the country with false documents,” he said.
Few days ago, news broke about the re-arrest of the ‘Galamsey’ Kingpin in her residence at Kumasi for her alleged involvement in the sale and purchase of minerals without a license.
The announcement of her re-arrest and return to the country shocked many Ghanaians and has brought back the discourse on the country’s fight against ‘galamsey’.
Aisha and her three accomplices were, on September 2, charged with engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a license.
But the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, is set to prosecute her for her past and recent crimes.
The AG has thus requested details of evidence compiled by investigators in 2018 and what has been compiled on alleged recent offences.
