National Coordinator for the National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Program (NAELP), Dr. Louis Serwaa Donkor, wants breast cancer awareness creation sustained all year to deal with rising cases.
She believes heightening awareness in October alone may not fully deal with the situation.
Statistics from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital show 500 people are diagnosed with breast cancer annually.
Women form ninety percent of the number.

Dr. Donkor believes enhanced sensitisation is the surest way to beat breast cancer.
"It is about time our women are made aware of breast cancer. It shouldn't only be done in breast cancer awareness month but it should be consistent," she said.
According to her, "some people believe breast cancer is spiritual but science has said otherwise. It is about time we make people know the truth".

Dr. Serwaa Donkor organized a two-day free breast cancer screening and treatment for residents of Pankrono and Tafo in the Ashanti region.
The Old Tafo Municipal Health Directorate partnered in the exercise themed, “Catch It Early, Save A Life And Save A Breast”.

Municipal Director of Health Services, Faustina Osei Mensah, observed similar efforts used in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic should be adopted in dealing with breast cancer.
"Conduct self-breast examinations and report abnormalities for early treatment, people can survive breast cancer, it is not a curse," she emphasized.
Hundreds of market women in the Tafo Pankrono Constituency benefited from the gesture.
