An Economist, Dr. Priscilla Twumasi-Baffour has commended President Akufo-Addo for his address to the nation.
Speaking in an interview on JoyNews' The Probe on Sunday, she said the President's speech will clear the uncertainties surrounding the poor state of the economy.
"For me, the President came to sort of speak to the ordinary Ghanaians and for that matter settled the level of uncertainties that are around," she said.
On Sunday evening, the President addressed the nation on the measures adopted to curb the prevailing economic crisis.
He gave the assurance that government is posed to turn things around and called on Ghanaian to support him in this regard.
Dr. Twumasi-Baffour said, "his statement, demeanor, this is a leader who is acknowledging the challenges."
"In certain stanzas in his speech, you could tell that he was putting himself in the shoes of the ordinary Ghanaians. The fact that people are losing their savings due to high inflation and depreciation of the currency," she added.
According to her, the President's hint of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund before end of year was reassuring as the deal will help to solve the economic problems in the short term.
This, she said, is because the IMF negotiations accounted "for the high level of speculations."
