Renowned global Afrobeats star, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid did not show up at his debut Ghana concert on December 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
It is not yet known why the Afrobeats star was absent despite a contractual agreement with organisers of the event.
However, Live Hub entertainment, the organisers of the event in a statement said the Nigerian artiste breached a contractual agreement for failing to show up at the concert.
Live Hub entertainment assured patrons of a full refund of fees.
“Dear LiveHub Nation, Wizkid breached his contractual obligation last night. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. We will issue FULL refunds to all who paid for tickets. Please send your barcode to thelivehubinfo@gmail.com,” the statement noted.
But a member of Wizkid's camp, Otunba Daniels has blamed the organisers for the musician's absence on stage.
Speaking during a Twitter live session hosted by content creator, Kwadwo Sheldon on Sunday, he explained that several issues happened behind closed doors which compelled the artiste's management to decide not to allow him perform.
The decision, he said was taken to protect Wizkid's international brand.
“Wizkid will not deliberately disrespect his fans. The organisers are to be blamed for whatever happened since they were not ready to make some changes. A lot happened behind the scenes that the management will officially communicate.
“However, promoters must learn to do the right things and ensure the right structures are in place for such concerts. If you are doing a party and your house is not in order and I don’t want to sit at where everyone will see me but at the back, it is not my duty to explain to them why I did that,” he said.
Wizkid’s management is yet to officially respond to the matter.
The numerous patrons and fans of the Afrobeats star who thronged the stadium last night for the concert were disappointed and harshly criticised the musician for failing to show up on stage.
