Personnel from the Central East Police Command have gunned down a suspected armed robber linked to the robbing and killing of a mobile money vendor two weeks ago in Budumburam.
The Police raided the home of the suspect identified as Kwame, upon a tip-off.
However, Police shot him when he attempted to flee in handcuffs.
The Police managed to arrest a second suspect after a tussle that led him to bite the hand of the officer.
Meanwhile, the Police indicated that a third suspect is on the run.
The 28-year-old Mobile Money vendor, Michael Anderson was shot by the robbers on December 30, 2022, at a public toilet facility in Buduburam.
Michael died on January 5, 2023, whilst on admission at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
According to sources, the victim had gone to the public toilet to ease himself when he was attacked.
The operator of the public toilet facility was also robbed at gunpoint. According to him, the robbers stole his money, but he was not shot.
In an interview with JoyNews’ Richard Kwadwo Nyarko, the public toilet operator who is the eyewitness, explained that the robbers attacked them minutes after the mobile money vendor arrived at the scene.
