The newly appointed Minority Leader disclosed his caucus’ intention to sensitise Ghanaians on the current economic crisis in the country under his leadership.
Dr Cassiel Ato Forson assured the public that he will dispense his duties with unwavering dedication as far as Ghana's economic fortunes are concerned.
He made this revelation in a news conference addressing the media on Thursday, January 26.
In an address, the Ajumako Enyan Esiam MP stated that he would immediately focus on three important issues which included educating Ghanaians about the effects of the nation's financial downturn.
“We will also embark on a roadshow where we will galvanise the people of Ghana, and educate them on the meaning of what this economic crisis is going to take us through,” he said.
The Minority Leader also mentioned his side's readiness to pressure the Akufo-Addo-led administration to downsize their government and also hold a public hearing on the audit of the COVID-19 expenditure, beginning on February 7, 2023.
The legislator further expressed his gratitude to the party for vesting in him the authority to lead the party and assured the members of the NDC to keep calm.
“I’ll appeal to the rank and file of our great NDC party to keep calm. Members of parliament are in good hands, we will work with them with due diligence,” he assured.
On Tuesday, January 24, the NDC informed the Speaker of Parliament of a change in its leadership in Parliament.
According to the party, the decision is in the best interest of the party.
