Legendary Nigerian actor Pete Edochie has opened up on the loss of his grandson Kambilichukwu - the first son of Yul Edochie.
Speaking to Vanguard Nigeria, Pete Edochie said he was informed of the 16-year-old boy’s death on Thursday.
The actor stated that his grandson’s death is devastating, noting that Kambilichukwu was a talented young boy who excelled in everything.
Pete Edochie said “Kambilichukwu is a very quiet, brilliant and talented child. He’s not somebody you can ride easily. He doesn’t get angry no matter the situation.
“He was so accomplished. I always tell my son that I don’t like people excelling like this in anything they are involved in. Experience has taught me that such people don’t last long."
He added that Kambilichukwu was an unusual young boy in so many respects.Â
This comes after news broke on Thursday that Yul Edochie and his wife May had lost their first son.
The young boy, who had just turned 16 on January 2023, had reportedly been rushed to the hospital after suffering a seizure.
Pete Edohie told Vanguard that his son, Yul, called him on the telephone, Wednesday, informing him that Kambilichukwu fell while playing football with his schoolmates and developed a seizure.
He stated that the 16-year-old had been rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital in Lagos following the incident.
Pete Edochie said that his family started praying for the child immediately Yul called him on the telephone about the sad incident.
However, they received news that Kambilichukwu had passed hours after arriving at the hospital.
