On Monday, June 19, social media was shocked to find out that actress Yvonne Nelson, in 2010, got pregnant with rapper Sarkodie’s baby and aborted it.
In her newly published memoir, I Am Not Yvonne Nelson, the actress revealed that the rapper did not want the child and for her.
She further noted “I had grown up without a father in my life. I had often been reminded of how I had been borne by mistake…How was I going to bring another human being into this world to live like me, someone whose father would reject him or her as Mr. Nelson had rejected me?”
Yvonne Nelson stated that she had initially attempted to take in some pills that her friend had said could help terminate the pregnancy but not only did it fail, she bleed for so long and was in excruciating pain.
As a result, the actress said she informed the rapper about having the abortion in a hospital stating “self-medication was also not an option.”

Yvonne Nelson said that although the rapper and his manager drove her to a facility in Mamprobi they did not stay with her through the ordeal.
The actress said that after going through the procedure, all the while questioning the facility and its safety, she was put through similar pain as the first time but it was a success.
“I felt worse because Sarkodie left me to my fate in the most difficult period. He did not call to check up on me or find out how the procedure had gone,” Yvonne Nelson noted.
The actress said that she regrets having the abortion stating the decision has haunted her for years.
“Having an abortion is one of the most regrettable mistakes in my life. If the clock of life could be rewound to my younger self, I would keep it. But the benefit of hindsight is sometimes not useful because the lessons learned cannot be applied retrospectively,” she added.
