Winner of Big Brother Titans season 1, Makhosazane "Khosi" Twala, popularly known as Khosi has narrated how she got her title "King Khosi" even though she is a female.
This was her response to a question from an avid viewer of Joy Prime who needed to know the backstory of the name.
"Good to you, Khosi. I think I'm the only one who doesn’t know why you’re called King Khosi. Would you mind giving me the backstory?" The fan quizzed.
According to Khosi, the name was given to her by the Big Brother of the house during an episode of the competition.
She revealed this on Prime Morning show on Thursday during an exclusive interview with KMJ, the Royal Host.
"Even I was confused, just like her. But apparently, Big Brother gave me the name. I remember during my diary session, Big Brother said it’s a jungle out there, and I’m ready to conquer it, and he said if the world is a jungle, then you’re a king. So I think that’s where it started, and when he was giving me the closure, he said, ‘King Khosi," she narrated.
Also, with regards to the meaning of her first name, the South African journalist explained that "Makhosazane" is a name given to every first female child of a family in her country.
Therefore, being the first and only lady among five boys of her parents, she was obviously given the name.
Speaking on the show, she said, "Makhosazane obviously, that’s Khosi for short. It means Princess or the first daughter of the family. My parents had five boys, and I was the sixth girl. So, that’s how the name came about, and what makes it more special is that, each generation, the first daughter is named Makhosazane. So, there’s a Makhosazane in the previous generations."
Growing up, she did not like the name because it is considered a name for older people, due to how she was being mocked by her colleagues in school.
Prior to that, she nearly changed her name at age 16, but became attracted to it after she understood its meaning.
"I thank God that I realised the meaning. The more I explain it to people, the more I like it. So, now I just like it, and it’s my only name," she said.
Meanwhile, the BB Titans star has created an App for body fitness for interested members as part of the projects her foundation is working on.
