The Millennium City area in the Central Region is on the brink of witnessing the demolition of over 5,000 houses due to rampant encroachment.
This follows the securing of a court order which empowers the Management of the 21st Century Estate Company Limited to remove encroachers on the lands in the Gomoa East District.
The area's developer has initiated the initial phase of this demolition endeavor, which involves marking the housing units that will be subject to future removal.
This marking process is being executed with the assistance of a team comprising over 100 police officers from the Central East Police Command.
Each housing unit that has been marked now bears distinctive inscriptions indicating its imminent removal, with the police supervising the operation to ensure its smooth execution.
The developer, 21st-century Construction Limited, has revealed that they have obtained a court order from the Ofaakor District Court to address the encroachment issues within their enclave.
The developer Kofi Asthma told the press that "Those whose houses have been earmarked must know that this is the first phase of the exercise, the second phase will be the demolition stage. They must either come forward for renegotiation or face demolition."
“If you have seen Police men going around in Millennium City, it is by the order of the court. People are trying to destroy our estate. Most of them are foreigners and because of small money, they are giving us trouble.
The construction firm also expressed concern over the adverse effects of landguard activities in the locality.
