Frank Agyekum, spokesperson to ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor has denied reports his boss has been invited for the welcoming ceremony of US President Barack Obama.
The Lens Newspaper on Tuesday claimed the former first family as well as the former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama have been invited for the activities.
Barely three days away for that historic visit by the US President, Frank Agyekum told Citi News no such invitation has been received.
Asked if Mr. Kufuor will accept the invitation, Mr. Agyekum said the ex-president is a statesman and will do anything to give the country a good image.
"If the invitation is brought, he will attend," he stressed.
He said the ex-president returned to the country last week from trips to Geneva and New York where he delivered key statements to world leaders.
The US President is set to arrive Friday night and will depart Sunday, July 12, 2009.
He is expected to have a breakfast meeting with President John Evans Atta Mills also pay a courtesy call on the Chiefs and people of Cape Coast in the Central Region where he will visit tourist sites.
