The Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development (DRID) of the University of Media, Arts and Communication- Institute of Journalism (UNIMAC-IJ), is set to hold its 9th Inter-Faculty research seminar on October 20, 2023.
The lecture to be held at the North Dzorwulu Campus of UNIMAC-IJ, will be presented by Dr. Solace Yawa Asafo, a lecturer with the faculty of Journalism and Media Studies. She holds Ph.D. in African Studies from the University of Ghana and an MPhil in Communication Studies also from the same university.
She brings to her teaching and researches her practical experience and knowledge in media, public policy communications, organisational communications, and church communication.
Her research interests lie in the area of communication and children, organisational communications, journalism, gender, and culture.
Dr. Solace will be speaking on the topic; "Media Training Schools and Journalists Personal Safety: A Survey of Journalism Students' Perception and Knowledge of Personal Risks and Safety Measures"
Her lecture is expected to open further doors to discussions on safety measures, risk awareness, and the preparation of budding journalists for the dynamic and sometimes perilous world of media.
Members of the student community say they are eagerly awaiting this opportunity for intellectual exploration and discovery.
According to some students, the journalism profession encounters a lot of life-threatening situations and it is important they become aware of what is happening around them with regard to safety and their security in the field.
The Inter-Faculty seminar organised by DRID seeks to open opportunities for the academic community to share knowledge as well as gain insights and engage in discussions that will enhance research.
