Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ghana's Minister for Education, has asked the Ghanaian youth to pursue passions for success.
Speaking at the premiere of Season Seven of the popular TV series “You Only Live Once” (YOLO), Dr. Adutwum emphasized the importance of investing in one's passion as a cornerstone for success.
The YOLO series promotes crucial messages covering areas such as good health, disability inclusion, family planning, nutrition, reproductive health, and child and adolescent health.
Produced by Farmhouse Productions Limited in collaboration with partners like the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Ghana Health Service (GHS), Ghana Education Service (GES), and the National Population Council, the YOLO TV series serves as a platform to convey these vital messages.
During his keynote address, Dr Adutwum shared his own journey, growing up as the son of a cocoa farmer and still pursuing his dreams despite the obstacles he faced.
He emphasised that life offers one opportunity, and urged the audience to dream big, regardless of their background.
“You only live once, so you have to dream big. Dreams are possible, regardless of where you come from because you live this life once, invest in yourself, and don’t be an average person,” he stressed.
He encouraged the youth to draw inspiration from the YOLO series, as it could provide valuable insights on overcoming challenges and making informed decisions.
Dr. Adutwum also urged them to pursue their passions, maintain a positive growth mindset, and seek mentorship from individuals who have triumphed over similar adversities.
