The CEO of Exim Bank, Lawrence Agyisam, has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP)'s parliamentary primary in the Heman Lower Denkyira Constituency.
He secured a landslide victory with a 104-vote difference, receiving a total of 273 votes, while the incumbent MP, Bright Wireko-Brobby, garnered 176 votes.
There was a total vote of 442.
His supporters are in cheers celebrating the victory.
In another constituency, the Controller and Accountant General Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, faced disappointment as he lost the NPP parliamentary primary in Akim Swedru.
In the closely-watched contest, Kwaning-Bosompem secured 94 votes, while the incumbent MP, Kennedy Osei, emerged victorious with 194 votes. Okyere Jerome Kwame polled 10 votes.
The parliamentary race gained attention when the Controller and Accountant General expressed his intention to contest the seat.
Despite receiving endorsements from high-profile personalities, politicians, religious leaders, and civil society organizations, he faced opposition, with some calling for his resignation or removal from office.
