The National Taskforce of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is poised to cut off electricity supply to 91 hospitals nationwide due to outstanding debts.
These health facilities collectively owe the power distributor a significant amount of GH₵261 million.
According to Citi News, its sources from ECG indicate that these hospitals will face power disconnection within 48 hours after receiving a "demand notice."
Notable hospitals such as Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the 37 Military Hospital, Ridge Hospital in the Greater Accra region, Komfo Anokye and Manhyia Government Hospitals in the Ashanti region, Ho Teaching Hospital in the Volta region, and Kibi Government Hospital in the Eastern region are among those facing potential disconnection.
This action is part of ECG's comprehensive effort to recover outstanding debts from customers and enhance its operational efficiency.
